c = 24 5/8 - 9 3/4 - 7 1/3 =

       24 - 9 - 7 +5/8 - 3/4 - 8/3=

            8  + 15 /24 -18 /24 -8 /24 =

            8 - 11/24=  7 + 24/24 - 11/24 = 7 13/24

    This is a hint how to handle addition of mixed numbers, you add integers together, and fractions together.
Hi Richard;

perimeter=(side A)+(side B)+(side C)
24 5/8=(9 3/4)+(7 1/3)+(side C)
Let's get rid of the fractions.
The denominators on the right side are 4 and 3.  Let's use the denominator of 12...
(3/4)(3/3)=9/12...side A 9 9/12
(1/3)(4/4)=4/12...side B 7 4/12
24 5/8=(9 9/12)+(7 4/12)+(side C)
24 5/8=(16 13/12)+(side C)
24 5/8=(17 1/12)+(side C)
The denominators are now 8 and 12.  Let's convert these to 24...
(5/8)(3/3)=15/24...perimeter=24 15/24
(1/12)(2/2)=2/24...sides A+B=17 2/24
24 15/24=(17 2/24)+(side C)
Let's move 17 2/24 from the right to the left side.  It becomes negative...
(24 15/24)-(17 2/24)=side C
7 13/24=side C
