x2 - 9x + 8 ≠ 0

x2 - 9x + 8 = (x - 1)(x - 8) ≠ 0

x - 1 ≠ 0 ====> x ≠ 1

x - 8 ≠ 0 ====> x ≠ 8

The domain of the given function is all real numbers except 1 and 8 ,

or

(- ∞, 1) U (1, 8) U (8, + ∞)

Nataliya is correct. Just wanted to add that, in general, if you're trying to figure out the domain of any rational function, it will be all real numbers except numbers that result in the denominator becoming zero. (This is above and beyond checks on domain because of square roots and logarithms that may appear.)
