One common factor of two numbers is 40, the other common factor is 10. If both numbers are less than 100, what are the two numbers?

80 and 40. 80/40=2 80/10=8 40/40=1 40/10=4
Since 80 and 40 are both divisible by 40 and 10, 40 and 10 are factors of both 80 and 40.
10 is a factor of 40 so we don't have to worry about 10 at all
40 has to be a factor of two numbers
every number is a factor of itself; 40 is a factor of 40
40 has to be a factor of another number so therefore the other number must be a multiple of 40
the next multiple of 40 is 80
answers: 40 and 80 (both are less than 100 and 10 is a factor of 40 and therefore also a factor of 80)
