The first number of the ordered pair is x; the second is y. (x, y) The x describes the left-right position. The y describes the up-down position. Positive x means right; negative x means left. Positive y means up; negative y means down. For each point start at the origin (0, 0) or where the x and y axes cross.
(-4, 0): Go 4 units left and 0 units up. Mark the point. (It will be on the x-axis 4 left from the origin.)
(-5, 0): Go 5 units left and 0 units up. Mark the point. (It will be on the x-axis 5 left from the origin.)
(0, -3): Go 0 units right and 3 units down. Mark the point. (It will be on the y-axis 3 down from the origin.)
(0, 2): Go 0 units right and 2 units up. Mark the point. (It will be on the y-axis 2 up from the origin.)
