HELP ME OUT PLEASE SOLVE IT

[-4^2 + 19] = [16-19] = 3
[-7^2 + 5(10)] = [49 + 50] 99
 
[3] - [99] = -96.  IF the equation had read [ [-4^2 + 19] - [-7^2 + 5(10)]], then the whole equation would be absolute value (positive 96), but since the subtraction is NOT part of the absolute value, the simplied version is 3 - 99 = -96   It depends if the subtration is IN absolute value or OUTSIDE of it.  In this case, the subtraction is not part of the equation, so the answer is a negative number.
