also i need help on this problem  3(squared+2x2squared)+4(2x2squared+3x2squaredy3squared)  its very hard

3(4x^2y^3 + 2x^2) + 4(2x^2 + 3x^2y^3)

3(4x^2y^3 + 2x^2) + 4(2x^2 + 3x^2y^3)

3(4x^2y^3 + 2x^2) + 4(2x^2 + 3x^2y^3) like this but missing the variables or and ^ means 3 needs to be up or 2 needs to be up

REMEMBER PEMDAS (order of operations).

first problem 9 + 5(4x+4) =

First we multiply5 times (4x+4) that gives us 20x + 20

then we add 9.  so we have 9+20+20x. which simplifies to 20x + 29.

same idea on 12 + 3(x+8).

we multiply 3 times (x+8) = (3x + 24).

now we add 12 to get 12 + 24 + 3x, which simplifies to (3x + 36) or 3(x+12)

3(7x+2) + 8x  same idea!

21x + 6 + 8x which = 29x +6

so this is 3(4x22+2x22) + 4(2x22+3x22y32)are the x and y variables (not multiplication?  I have never seen math written this way, that does not mean it is not what you have.  If we keep trying, I WILL get the answer.

Multiply first...(12x2y3+6x2) + (8x2+12x2y3)

NOW  gather like terms!!!!   we have 24x2y we have 14 x2

so.... the answer is 14x2+24x2y3....... we can simplify by factoring out a two(2)

thus we get 2(7x2+12x2y3)

Solve Parentheses or Exponents, Multiplication or Division, then Addition or subtraction.

Before I simplify these problems, I will explain why math problems must be solved in this order.

In math the most basic operations are addition and subtraction.  Addition moves up the number line, while subtraction moves down the number line.   Multiplication is shorthand for addition (3+3+3= 3*3) Division is the opposite function to Multiplication.  Exponents are shorthand for multiplication (3*3*3=3^3).

Parenthesis inform a person to solve what is within the Parenthesis before solving what is outside the parenthesis.  I will now simplify each expression explaining each step.

9+5(4x+4).  9 is a whole number we are to add it to 5 times the sum of 4x and 4.  4x cannot be added to 4, but using the associative rule we know the 5(4x+4)= 5*4x+5*4.  we now have 9+20x+20.  The associative property states that 9+20x+20 = 20x+20+9. 20 and 9 are both whole numbers and can be added, leaving us with 20x+29.  This is the simplest term.

12+3(x+8)= 12 + 3*x + 3*8= 12+ 3x +24 =3x +36

3(7x+2)+8x = 3*7x + 3*2 + 8x = 21x+ 6 +8x = 29x +6
