The multiples of a number are what you get when you multiply the number by other numbers (such as if you multiply it by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.).
The least common multiple is the smallest of the multiples that the pair of given numbers have in common.
For the pair of numbers 8 and 12:
The common multiples are shown in bold. The least common multiple is 24.
For the pair of numbers 9 and 10:
The common multiples are shown in bold. The least common multiple is 90.
listing multiples of 8 means 8x1, 8x2, 8x3, etc. So the multiples of 8 are 8,16,24,32,40,48,56,64,72,80,88,96 (stopping before 100) The multiples of 12 would be 12,24,36,48,60,72,84,96 (also stopping before 100) The "least common multiple" is the smallest number that appears in both lists, so circle 24. They have other numbers in common, but 24 is the smallest, the "least." Now you try the same with 9 and 10!!
