               3x-6+2

You'll first need to distribute the 3 into the terms inside the set of parentheses pertaining to it. That is, multiply 3 by each term inside the parentheses:

     3(x - 2) + 2 = 0

     (3·x - 3·2) + 2 = 0

     (3x - 6) + 2 = 0

     3x - 6 + 2 = 0

          combine like terms

     3x - 4 = 0

          add 4 to both sides of the equation

     3x - 4 + 4 = 0 + 4

     3x = 4

          divide both sides of the equation by 3

     3x/3 = 4/3

     x = 4/3
