1.2(x-2)=2-x; Solution: x=2 ============================================================================ Step by Step solution 1.2(x-2)=2-x

Step 1: Multiply by 1.2 all in the parentesis. That is the distribution property.

1.2x-2.4=2-x,

Step 2: Reagruping equal terms

(1)add +x to whole equation 1.2x-2.4+x=2,

(2)add +2.4 to whole equation

1.2x+x=2+2.4 ==> 2.2x=4.4

Step 3: divide by 2.2 the whole equation

x=4.4/2.2 ==> x=2

add comment

1.2(x - 2) = 2 - x  (orig Prob)

1.2x - 2.4 = 2 - x   (multiply 1.2 by (x - 2))

1.2x + x = 2 + 2.4   (add x to both sides, and add 2.4 to both sides)

2.2x = 4.4  (do the addition on both sides)

x = 2  (divide both sides by 2.2)
