Hi!

I am Dr. Georgeanna B., and I'd like to be your tutor. I have more than 20 years' work experience, and I am currently working as a researcher. My interest is in helping Veterans when they return from active duty. Some Veterans have difficulty adjusting to civilian, or non-military life, and I hope my research makes things better. My work requires me to write all of the time.

Since I have been working for so many years, I have been able to master skills such as using Microsoft and Excel. Both applications are used quite often in the work I do: in preparing proposals, analyzing data, and writing articles discussing research findings. I have a master's degree in social science, and a doctoral degree in health administration. I believe learning should be painless, and as a tutor, I create a learning experience that gives you the best value for your time and resources. I believe in explaining concepts and working with the student until he or she feels comfortable using the functions in Word or Excel. One little known fact with Microsoft programs--there is always more than one way to accomplish a task. As your tutor, I help you find those ways to become proficient.

As your tutor, I think it is important for you to know that I know you have things to do, and it is my purpose to make sure you spend only the time it takes for you to master a function in Excel, or learn a way to fully justify your document in Word.

Reading

Tutoring in reading will include vocabulary, phonics, and comprehension. To become proficient in reading, assignments will focus on an area of interest to the student. Use of spelling, pronunciation and elocution are important aspects in acquiring effective reading skills and the goal of this instruction is to engage the learner to be able to obtain these skills effectively and efficiently. Writing

Tutoring will focus on developing skills in understanding, reviewing, and analyzing all assignments; creating writing topics to meet course requirements; creating and editing reports, research papers and theses; and creating and editing persuasive and expository writing assignments. Tutoring will also incorporate word processing tools to aid in perfecting writing assignments, thereby adding to the learner’s skill set.

Accounting

Tutoring concentrates on the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Topics will include: analyzing, journalizing and posting transactions, adjusting entries, completion of the work sheet, financial statements, and the closing process for a service business.
