so you have -4/7 * -3/4...what you should do is multiply all the numerators over all the dominators...
so on top: (-4 * -3)
on bottom (7*4)
What you can see too is that the 4s will cancel out, since there is a 4 in the numerator and a 4 in denominator.
so after canceling...
The best way is to get all of your variables on one side, and all of the numbers on the other.
So we have:
x + 6 = -x -2, lets start by bringing all of the x's to one side (i.e to the left)
x + 6 - (-X) = -2, which simplifies to 2x + 6 = -2.
So far jim has $12 out of the total $18 he needs for the pass. So what is the fraction of money he has now? It will be 12/18 which reduces down to 2/3. Therefore, Jim has 2/3 of the amount and now needs 1/3 more to reach 18 dollars. (1/3) x 18 = 6 dollars.
