I am a Data Scientist looking to offer tutoring. I have the qualifications for a Master of Professional Studies in Applied Statistics and will be finishing my degree in May 2013. This program provided students a solid foundation in statistical methods, predictive analytics, statistical computing, and data technologies. I am always willing to learn new skills and I am very adaptable.
I have been a graduate teaching assistant for two years at West Virginia University. My responsibilities as a GTA include, lecturing for about twenty to thirty minutes, giving hints on homework problems, giving quizzes, and tutoring. I worked with the students one on one and in groups. I worked under professors to omelet my tasks. My professors would go before me each week and give a template to work with and I would present my material for him/her.
Overall, my outlook on this job was a great experience. It equipped me for the real world. It taught me to be reliable and always be prepared for class. The outcome of this situation is that I got a taste for a real-world experience on the job would be like.
