I am currently working at a local high school as a Math II teacher. Last year for the second half of the school year I taught Geometry at BSHS, and I loved it so much I'm back again!!
I'm from Lancaster, PA, and went to Shippensburg University to get my degree in Mathematics, and my PA teaching certificate for grades 7-12.
While I was taking classes in college I did many hours and semesters tutoring students on campus and students from the surrounding school districts. I started tutoring college students in 2010, and have been working with a variety of age groups since then.
I take my role as a tutor very seriously, and really do try to help the student I'm working with. Some things I do that not many people do is that I try to make things fun, especially for the younger students I work with. I will also use any kind of manipulative that I can bring to use as well.
Because of teaching my hours are a little limited, but not completely set in stone. I can do weekdays (M-TH) preferably between 4:30-7:30, Fridays 4:30-9:00 and Weekends between 11:00am-6:00pm.
I am also willing to try video sessions if you'd be interested in that approach.
If you have any questions please feel free to message me to see if I'd be a good fit for you/your son/daughter.
Thank you for considering me for your tutor.
I have taken two courses on Discrete Mathematics in college. I have also taken a class that's extended off of Discrete, and got a B in that class. I also still have two different Discrete textbooks as well as my other higher math textbook to use as references.
I took geometry in high school, like most students do, but then I also took a geometry class in college that was based on non-Euclidean geometry (that's outside the normal world). During my student teaching I had 3 Geometry classes that I worked with the most. Right after graduating college I was hired as a HS Geometry teacher, and am loving every bit of it.
I have taken two courses on Linear Algebra in college. I also still have two different textbooks to use as references. I am teaching an Algebra 2 class right now that is working with Matrices and I still have all of my notes from my two classes.
Throughout my college life I have taken several math courses that work primarily or heavily on probability. I took a basic level class working with a large section of probability, but then I took a more advanced class working almost exclusively with probability and counting.
Having to take the PRAXIS exams to become certified to teach in PA, I know what it's like to have to study for standard tests that mean a lot. I have done many different studying sessions myself, and have come up with new ways to study the material for these kinds of tests.
I have done a lot of Trig over the years. I first worked with it in high school, just touching on it in my Algebra classes, and then really learning about it in Pre-Calc, and then becoming even more familiar with it in college when I got into Calculus and my other upper level math classes.
Great help to my daughter!! — My daughter has made huge strides in her math grades after just 2 sessions with Sky. She is very patient with my daughter and they seem to have good rapport. I would definitely recommend her as a tutor to others. ...
