Hello Everybody:
My name is Victoria, and I am the right tutor for you!
I graduated from Viterbo College in LaCrosse, WI, with a BA in Theatre and am currently attending Northcentral Technical College working towards an Associate’s Degree as an Administrative Professional.
I am an excellent tutor for all areas of Theatre and computer basics in the areas of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
I also have classroom experience teaching Reading and Math in the Chicago Parochial School System. I have tutored students in Reading, Math, Social Sciences, and English on a voluntary basis. In addition to working with children, I volunteered to teach Reading to adults for a number of years. I have over twenty years of experience ministering to children ( from infant to twelve years of age )in my church’s Children’s Church Ministry. As you can see, I have experience with all types of children and can teach may different subjects.
My approach to education is to make it interesting, fun, and relevant to the learner. I would definitely adapt my teaching style to the learning style of the student. Most students are visual and audio learners, who would require a teaching style based on visual and audio aids (textbooks, repetition, etc.). However, many students who are struggling in school may be kinetic learners who require “hands-on, experiential aids” to enhance learning. For, example, this type of student may learn fractions in math better through following a recipe rather than doing math problems from a text.
I think a key to education is to make learning fun and interactive so that the student may become a lifelong learner. I would use any type of material available (games, projects, field trips, life experiences, in addition to texts and worksheets) to assist the student in not only becoming more adept in the subject taught, but to boost their self-esteem and attitude toward life and learning.
