I am new to tutoring Photography as I continue to maintain a very heavy schedule in the business. I started my own company in July of 2011, and I am interested in tutoring because I really enjoy helping and teaching others. I have been a softball private pitching instructor for 9 years, which is where I discovered my knack and enjoyment for teaching and also developed strong communication skills. I believe this will easily follow in the field of photography. I am extremely creative with a lot of good ideas while at the same time possessing a strong analytical mind.
I got my Bachelor of Fine arts in Photography from the University of Delaware where I specifically developed my eye, and I also pitched for the Fighting Blue Hen softball program. I did my internship with Edmunds Studios, and began working for the studio after college for 9 months. From there I began working for the Bon-Ton photo studio, in advertising for their catalogs and website. Basically anything you would see in a Boston Store catalog or online, we photographed at the studio. I worked there for almost 5 years before going out on my own. With Bon-Ton I specialized in product and fashion commercial photography. Since starting my own business, I have been focusing on wedding and portrait consumer photography, working on anything from family portraits, to pets, to special events. In addition to that, I still do some freelance commercial photography, and I continue to assist Edmunds Studios in overflow photo projects, and larger scale advertising projects where they need extra help.
I am skilled at a high level in Adobe Photoshop, with an emphasis in photography of course. It is a vast program with many capabilities, which is why I must specify that my talents lie specifically with using Photoshop to enhance photographs. As far as camera systems go, I have experience working with view cameras, Hasselblad, and Cannon. I have experience working with tethered software programs such as Capture 1 pro, Lightroom, and Digital Photo Professional. Also, if you are interested in starting a business or making money with your camera, I have a lot of knowledge and resources specifically on that. However, for my personal enjoyment, I do love taking beautiful pictures of landscapes and being creative when I am not on the job.
