I have my Associate of Applied Science degree in Video & Motion Graphics and love to help others grow. I like to think of us all as trying to evolve daily, so this is a great way to not only teach but to learn from the process as well. I consider myself proficient and capable of really helping others get on the right track in all of categories I specifically checked. Chess in particular I've taught for years. When I was in Middle School I started two different Chess Clubs and was a National Champion for my division 3-4 years later. I think helping teach others the game, really shed some internal light on what I needed to work/focus on myself. I hope to do the same for you or your child.
My tutoring approach will be about breaking down exactly what the barrier is and then helping you overcome it. This may be in one session, if it's something particularly easy or over the course of a curriculum if ongoing assistance is needed to catch up or just get you to the top of your mental game for a particular subject. I feel figuring out the desired end goal is key to the success of the tutor/student relationship. One-on-one sessions are much easier to focus with one person and really help make the tutoring process much more efficient than a classroom approach. Especially in today's times where teachers can have up to 30-40 kids at a time. I don't feel the individual focus that may be necessary is even there for some students who may really need it. I feel that's where I or other WyzAnt tutors can come in and really aid you or your child's success.
When I was running the YMCA Chess Club in Sun Prairie, I had quite a wide age group of kids to teach. Some as young as 6 and up to high school students. I had to find a way to help everyone by choosing the correct subject for the night, while at the same time figuring out a way to help the individuals with each of their weaknesses. I feel confident in being able to assist you in your improvement and I hope you'll give me the opportunity to prove that to you.
