My name is Caitlin, and I'm a currently a Milwaukee professional hoping to tutor you or your student! I'm interested in tutoring to make a difference by helping students achieve their goals, and to help pay off my student loans.
I have a bachelor's degree in Public Relations and French from Marquette University. I'm highly trained in communications, including public speaking, writing, and proof-reading. I also have a passion for French and English literature and analysis. My 8 years studying French give me the experience to help beginner and intermediate French students. I also feel confident assisting with English students through the entry level of college. I tutored some in high school, but I've always assisted friends and colleagues when they needed it. For instance, I most recently proof-read English papers for my colleague, who is a student at MATC. I'm proud to say that she finished last semester with an A in her class. I am also available to tutor K-8 in all subjects.
My approach to tutoring is simple. I like to read over and analyze a student's current abilities through his/ her past and present work. I also like to personally speak with the student to see what his/her goals are. Using this analysis, I define the student's strengths and opportunities. I think it's very important to build up a student's confidence, so I go over his/ her strengths first, and then I mention where I think he/she has opportunities to grow. I'm used to working with students and their current course work, but I am willing to create exercises outside of their class assignments to help them as well. Overall, my goal is to not only raise the students grades, but to make them feel better about themselves, and more confident in their abilities. I really enjoy helping and teaching people, and I hope that you or your student will be one of them!
