Currently I teach first grade at an elementary school in Milwaukee. My teaching style includes being caring, patient and fun! It is important for children to love learning and by including different types of activities and projects in my lessons children learn and excel. I have experience working with children from all types of personal backgrounds and disabilities (i.e. ADHD, ED, Mild Autism, LD). Students are our future and I take my responsibility as an educator seriously!

Reading

Currently I teach first grade for Milwaukee Public School. Within the day there is a 90 minutes reading block that includes some whole group, small group and individual instruction daily. Activities/lessons are taught based on student needs.

Elementary Math

With my education degree from Alverno College I have a minor in mathematics as well as an additional license to teach math to students in grades 6-9. I have taught math, using a wide variety of strategies over the years to 1st, 2nd, and 6th grade students.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am currently a first grade teacher and have taught all subjects: reading, phonics, math, English language arts, science, social studies and health. I have also taught all subjects with second grade students.

Phonics

Phonics is part of learning to read. I have taught first grade for this past year and successfully taught a dozen students to read using phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary and word recognition.

ADD/ADHD

I am not a special education teacher, but have successfully taught dozens of students who have this disorder for the past 15 years. Their severity varies from severe to mild ADD/ADHD. Some have been medicated and some have not.
