I earned my undergraduate degree in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a secondary degree in Design from the Accademia Italiana in Northern Italy, where I lived for 6 years. I have over a decade of teaching experience in art, English and Italian. I worked for a number of years at a Madison area art center, teaching students pre-school through 5th grade art lesson in drawing, painting, and sculpture. I have tutored students in computer based arts such as basic graphic design using digital photography and Photoshop.

While living in Italy I worked for an International Language Center through which I taught English in 4 pre-schools, 5 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, as well as individual adult courses. I also taught "Italian Language and Culture" courses to American exchange students studying in Italy. My level of fluency in Italian is advanced and I have a strong grasp of vocabulary, grammar, reading/writing and conversation skills.
In addition to classroom teaching I have tutored students one-on-one aged pre-school to adult in the arts, English and Italian. My level of language instruction ranges from basic to advanced. I've taught beginning vocabulary to pre-school aged children through songs and games, as well as professional level business English to high level Italian executives.

The joy of teaching is seeing how satisfied students are when the light bulb clicks on and they "get it"! My goal is to help each student learn in a way that works for them as an individual and enjoy the process at the same time!

Elementary (K-6th)

I truly enjoy working with students of all ages, but have has the most experience with preschool to middle school ages. I received my undergrad degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison in Art Education (K-12). I have nearly a decade of experience teaching art and language (English and Italian) to young students.

ESL/ESOL

I have taught English as a second language to hundreds of students over the course of my 6 year stay living in Northern Italy. Through the International Language Centers where I worked I taught lessons at 4 preschools, 5 elementary schools, and 4 middle schools. I also taught adult classes beginner-advanced, as well as business English for international professions.

Adobe Photoshop

I began working with Photoshop for a webdesign project in college in 1999, and have been using it regularly ever since. I am familiar with most of the photo editing and design options the program offers. I have creating a number of small graphic design projects such as brochures, business cards and the like. Drawing

I'm interested in tutoring students with an interested in learning basic drawing skills, such as contour drawing, shading, still life, and perspective. I have taught numerous introductory drawing lessons to children from pre-school to middle school.

Photography

Composition, camera functions and display are all elements that can be taught starting at a very young age. I have taught basic photography courses for elementary-middle school aged children. Giving a student a challenge or specific guidelines for taking photos helps maintain focus and push the creative envelope. Coupled with basic Photoshop techniques a course on digital photography can give wonderfully creative results.

Painting

The degree I completed in Art Education prepared me in many areas of painting including watercolor, oils, and acrylic. I have taught various painting courses to children preschool-middle school, and have a number of fun-filled lesson plans that inspire creativity! As a painter myself I specialize in large scale, abstract acrylics. I enjoy mixing tactile medium in with the paints to create texture and body.
