Hi. My name is Kirk L. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and my tutoring and teaching experience to help you decide if I am a good fit for your tutoring needs.
I tutored elementary school students one day a week for a year at Calvary Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
I tutored a friend's middle school-aged son in Spanish for one semester, and I have recently tutored a high school sophomore girl in Madison in Spanish, geometry, and history. I taught Sunday School at my church for three years (2005-2007) - 1st/2nd Grade and Middle School, and co-taught confirmation for one year (2007-2008). In addition, I was a Teaching Assistant for a Torts professor in law school.
I began studying Spanish in elementary after school classes; thereafter, I studied Spanish from 8th grade through 12th grade and in college, including a semester in Mexico at a language school. I also studied Spanish at a language school in Guatemala for 5 weeks in 1997. I have lived in Mexico and traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Central America, and Cuba.
I graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1994 with a B.A. cum laude in History & Political Science. I earned my J.D. from The City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law at Queens College, Flushing, Queens, New York in 2002
I play Viola and Guitar. I began playing Viola in 5th grade and played in school orchestra through 12th grade and then all four years of undergraduate college in the St. Olaf Chamber Orchestra. I played one season with the Jewish Community Center (JCC) Orchestra in 1995-96, and three years with the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) from 2007-2010. I have been a street-singer since 1997, performing in subways, skyways, outside sporting events, and on street corners.
I like Baseball, Basketball, Running, Tennis, and Roller-Blading. I have run 9 Marathons, and have set a goal for myself to qualify for and run the Boston Marathon.
* Please contact me if you think I would be a fit for your tutoring needs.
Sincerely,
Kirk L.
