I work as an ELL aide and special Ed aide in a elementary school. I help Hispanic kids with translating their homework and learning English
. I help students with phonics
one on one. The group of kids I work with are first, second, and fifth graders. I help all of them learn English. I help them with phonics and reading
short stories and problem solving.
I also work with special needs
children. I do one on one work with them outside of classroom and in classroom.
I currently work with elementary students - first grade
, second grade
, and fifth grade
. With the first grade students I help with reading, English, phonics, math
, how to count money and tell how much each coin is worth, how to tell time, adding and subtracting, we also do simple story problems where they have to subtract or add numbers to get the answer. In English I help students learn compound words and verbs and adjectives.
With the second grade I help with reading and phonics. I also help with math, how to count money and doing story problems, we work with simple ratios and fractions

In English I help the students learn verbs, adjectives. I also help the students with their tests. In math I help with adding, subtracting, multiplying fractions, work with story problems. The type of math we are studying this year in fifth grade is called Math expressions volume 1.
In Math Expressions we study basic facts fluency, multiplication and division and words problems. We work with equations and problem solving, perimeter and area of rectangles, triangles, and other polygons, addition and subtraction of whole numbers and decimals and so on. If the student is taking Math expressions volume 1 I can help.
I help to teach reading and writing
by developing the students phonemic awareness, the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate English phonemes in order to teach the correspondence between these sounds and the spelling
patterns that represent them.
I teach phonics to help enable beginning readers to decode new written words by sounding them out, or in phonics terms, blending the sound-spelling patterns.
