Having completed my combined Bachelor's of Science and master's in mathematics at the University of St Andrews, Scotland I decided to study for my PhD in the U.S.

As a tutor at the University of Kentucky I have led tutorials for both individuals and classes of 40+ students, all with exceptional university feedback. I have taught Calculus I, II and III plus the University of Kentucky's business calculus course. Also I have extensive experience in high school level maths such as algebra I, II and pre-calculus.

I believe that there is no such thing as a stupid question and aim to make my students feel confident to ask when they don't understand something. I prefer not to lecture to people, instead to ask them a friendly series of questions to help them arrive at the answer themselves. This is more rewarding for the student and helps them to develop their own thought processes which are essential to being able to solve problems on their own.

Algebra 1

Algebra is a more than just moving equations from one side of the page to the other. Learning how to take a problem and set up an appropriate equation is a skill that will serve you well outside of the classroom. Being able to then solve the problem and even optimize your answer is even better.
Rather than telling you the equation or the answer, I prefer to guide you to the answer by asking you questions that help you figure out the necessary steps.

Algebra 2

Building on the materials from Algebra 1, it is easy to feel lost Algebra 2. Having tutored extensively in algebra I can help identify the areas that need addressing and choose an approach to suit each individual.

Rather than just telling you the answer, I guide you through problems via a systematic series of questions. This gives you the reward of solving the problem yourself and as a bonus develops your thought processes thus allowing you to solve more by yourself.

Calculus

Calculus can be likened to a skeleton on which college mathematics is built up. Master Calculus and you can explore a wide variety of career areas - it's not just about becoming a math professor!
