I am a veteran teacher of more than 25 years. I am a certified teacher of Elementary Education, Grades 1-8 with a certification in General Science Education for Grades 1-8. I have a MA in Elementary Education with an emphasis on Curriculum and Instruction.

My experience includes teaching science in grades 7 and 8 for more than 20 years and regular classroom teacher for grades 5 and 6. I also have experience teaching both remedial and enrichment courses as a part of summer school programs. I have experience working with students of all ability levels and learning styles, including special needs students. My approach is student centered with hands-on, interactive learning that targets a child's interests and learning styles.

Biology

I have years of experience teaching life science at a middle school level but could also tutor on topic that might be covered in a HS biology class.

Anatomy

I have a general science minor and certification for grades 1-8. I can tutor on basic anatomy and body systems that might be covered in a HS biology class.

Ecology

In addition to year of teaching life science which included ecology I also have experience as a Naturalist/Interpreter for the Wisconsin state park system.

Elementary Science

My minor and concentration are in general science, grades 1-8. I have more than 25 years of experience teaching elementary/middle school science. I have also acted as a science resource for other teacher.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a veteran teacher of 29 years with experience teaching Grades 1-8 in all subjects. I have a Professional Educator license in the state of Wisconsin, licensed to teach Grades 1-8 as well as a license for General Science K-8. I have an MA in Elementary Education.

Study Skills

As a certified teacher of students in the upper grades, study skills has been a focus in many of my lessons. The teaching of study skills was especially important during my years as an instructor of Grade 8 Career Education.

Career Development

I have experience teaching Grade 8 Career Education. The course I taught helped students develop work place skills, communication skills, and was designed to guide them in understanding and selecting career paths that matched their interests and skill sets. I designed the curriculum for the course and a variety of resources that can be useful in helping others choose a career path.

ADD/ADHD

As a veteran educator I have worked successfully with many children having ADD/ADHD. My approach is to help them understand their disability and to develop strategies that will help them reach their full potential.

Aspergers

As a veteran educator I have worked with many students with Aspergers. Through personal research, professional development, and experience I have learned to better understand students with Aspergers and strategies that can be used to help them be successful socially and academically.
