My name is Ken. I enjoy teaching others. It gives me great pleasure to sit down with someone and learn together.
I am well studied in a variety of subjects. English, writing and Bible are my favorites. Psychology and the study of people is also a passion of mine.
Recently I graduated from Trinity International University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I achieved a grade point average of 3.89 overall. Seeking my degree at Trinity meant reading a lot each week and writing more papers than I can count. My instructors made many positive comments about my writing.
I have an extensive job history in which teaching others is my favorite part. Currently I operate my own computer business in which I instruct computer users on how to use computer hardware and a variety of computer programs. In the past I have interacted with people from various backgrounds and of various ages. I led campers with physical and mental disabilities at a summer camp. I also worked as an aid to a child with cerebral palsy and a child with ADHD who loved insects and science.
Though knowledge is important, so is the tutoring relationship. I love getting to know people as real people, not just subjects to be taught.
I obtained a bachelor's degree from Trinity International University, during which time I took both an Old Testament and New Testament studies class. I also personally study the Bible on a daily basis. In the past, I have mentored men in a Christian substance abuse program using the Bible as my basis for counsel. In addition, I have taught children's church and Sunday school at a local Christian church.
Enrolled in advanced placement English in high school. Graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.89 GPA) from Trinity International University in a returning adult program that required me to write many papers.
I graduated in the top 5% of my high school class in 1988. I also recently graduated from Trinity International University with a bachelor's degree.
I have been programming in and supporting several Access databases full time for the last 2 years. These are operational databases for a manufacturing company. With the support of my coworkers and online resources I have learned quite a bit. I also support and train those who use the databases.
I have used Microsoft Outlook for business and personal email for over 12 years. Not only have I used it for myself, but I have also supported other Microsoft Outlook users in a business environment. To those I support and to me it has been more than just an email program. We use the calendar, meeting, task, appointment, folder and archive features as well. I have taught others how to use the program while personally utilizing many of the features myself. While using the program I have learned how to sort emails, search the emails and clean up conversations among other things. I am confident that I would be able to professionally teach others how to use this program since it is part of what I do on a regular basis.
Microsoft Windows has been one of the main focuses of my profession for over 12 years. I support Microsoft Windows users in a professional environment, helping people use Windows for their daily operations. When things go wrong I have helped to resolve the problem. I have at times reloaded Microsoft Windows and at other times found and chosen the proper settings to meet the operator's need. Some of my work has lead me into some of the deeper settings in Microsoft Windows. I have tweaked the registry, set the proper security settings and used task manager to check the software for proper operation.
Throughout school I have always had a good understanding of the basic principles of math. Prealgebra is just a game of solving the puzzle by moving the pieces around until you get the right answer. I understand how to move the pieces around and can help others learn how by helping them to learn how to move the pieces appropriately.
When beginning college at Trinity International University in 2009, the very first class that I had to take was on study skills. It was an intense lesson in how to study and learn so that each student was given the best opportunity to succeed in the rigorous returning adult program. I can pass on what I have learned here to others and adapt it to multiple grade levels. I still have the books for this class to refer to.
I recently graduated with a 3.89 GPA from Trinity International University. Just to enter the program I had to pass a writing skills test because of the intensity of writing required. I passed the test with a high score and have improved since then through the amount of papers I wrote in the 3 years of coursework. The instructors commented on how well I wrote.
