My name is Ellen and I hold a B.A. in Biology with an Ecology emphasis from Northern Michigan University, minors in English and Anthropology, and I completed my M.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2011. I love to learn; it is an adventure. As a teacher, I try to use my space, my voice, and my body language to convey this excitement to my students, using examples to illustrate the point I am trying to make. Teaching is really just another way for scholars to continue on their own educational journey by staying abreast of the field, and the act of recapitulating core knowledge is probably the best way to fix it in one’s mind. Helping students grow and unlock their own potential makes me essentially happy. I have taught students as young as nine years old to college sophomores a variety of subjects in the life sciences, I have mentored undergraduate lab assistants, and I have tutored students in both a tutoring lab setting and a personal one-on-one environment. I would love to be a part of your academic success story.
