My name is Noly A., it is my pleasure to introduce myself to my future prospective students as well as the parents of these fine children. I am originally from the Philippine Islands and I come from a large family consisting of six sisters and two brothers. I am a second language learner and in 1976, I had the privilege of taking and officially becoming an American Citizen. This is one of the proudest moments of my life because I studied diligently for this test and passed, what a privilege to be a citizen of this "land of opportunities." Because of education, my siblings including myself have achieved dreams that we would have never been able to accomplish back home on that tiny island 12,500 miles away. I learned a second language by having amazing teachers and their innate creativity. Through their tutoring and guidance, I mastered the English language. As I matured and honed my writing and speaking skills, I expanded my own horizons by engaging in creative writing. I have written numerous poems and short stories. This stems from my love and passion of music, I am a self taught musician in guitar, drums, and piano.
I have a unique background, I have over 20 years of sales and advertising experience. From these career stints, I continually developed more skills, especially in the areas of public speaking and public relations. While I was developing these skills, I started getting involved with children's ministry by volunteering my time during the summers by helping run recreational program from ages 5-18. In 1984, I landed my first coaching job(s) by coaching track and field, girls volleyball (middle school and high school) as well as boys JV assistant basketball coach. I love working with children of all ages and backgrounds. My style of tutoring varies from each child's innate ability. The most effective and common approach from my personal experience is the "aesthetic" approach. I believe that by allowing the use of the 5 senses, each child will experience the capability to relate in some degree through these senses.
Tutoring itself is an art, I gauge my students based on "their" interests stemming from what they like to listen, watch, and do during their free time regardless of age and ability. This is an integral part of the tutoring process. You have to create a solid foundation to build onto, and there is nothing more effective then making connections with students based on their areas of interest. Once you internalize what each student likes or dislike or have to offer, you possess a wealth of possibility in creating a tutoring environment for each child.
The most important part of tutoring is the environment. Private tutoring eliminates distractions that can often restrict students to fully focus and engage in their subject areas. Please be sure to carefully view the subject areas that I am qualified to teach. I can teach from the kindergarten level all the way to college students pursuing an AA, BA, MA and technical writing at the PhD level.
