Hello, my name is Barbara-Lee and I am a former Law Enforcement Detective of eight years. I have worked in Domestic Violence, Narcotics, Weapons, Crime Suppression, and many other areas. I have worked on investigations as the lead detective with federal agencies such as the DEA and ATF. I recently exited the Law Enforcement world to pursue one of my dreams of owning a bakery, which I currently do. My ultimate goal is to complete graduate school (which I am also in right now) for criminal justice and become a Criminal Justice professor.

Prior to working in Law Enforcement, I was an assistant teacher for children with developmental disabilities and a youth counselor for inner city children. I volunteer on a regular basis with Lowell Elementary school in North Tacoma. I love teaching and excel the most in Criminal Justice/Law areas, Elementary education (math, reading, phonics, vocabulary), and History/Geography.

I also have experience coaching track & field and other sports. I attended undergrad on a scholarship for track & field and I also played Women's Semi Pro. football with the Miami Furry in Miami Florida for two seasons. I understand that each child/person is different and may need there own pace/method to reach there full potential.

From my past experiences, I have garnered the ability to maintain patience and overcome almost any obstacle with a level mind. I hope to use this opportunity to tutor as not only a opportunity to help you but to help me as well in preparing for a class full of students with all eyes and minds on me. I look forward to learning with you.

Cooking

I have been cooking/baking for over 10 years. I currently own a bakery that sells cookies, cakes, cheesecakes, brownies, and pies.

Criminal Justice

I have worked in the Law Enforcement realm as a street officer and Detective for approximately 8 years. During this time I have worked in specialized areas such as narcotics, domestic violence, and crime suppression. I have experience in areas of juvenile law, theft, arrest procedures, court procedures, robbery, fraud, undercover techniques, and tactical training. I have taken training in all of these areas and am classified as an expert when on the stand for narcotics related cases.

Soccer

I have experience coaching the goalie position to children ages 8-10. I was the goalie for a conference championship team while in high school and have stayed up to date on new training skills for this position.

Track & Field

I attended Western Carolina University (NC) on a track and field scholarship and won a conference championship at that time. I then transferred to the University of NC at Wilmington NC and received another track and field scholarship for field events. I have experience coaching track and field for the Special Olympics as well as Inner city Youth in NC.
