I received my law degree at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. I also have my Bachelor's of Arts degree in English and Technical Writing. Learning and teaching is an important part of my life. My range of experience includes tutoring reading and writing for elementary students as well as editing resumes, cover letters, and papers for professionals and college students.
It is imperative to get to know a student's style of learning, study habits, strengths, and weaknesses in order to fully understand how to guide them in a specific subject. Keeping children engaged and interested, while maintaining patience and kindness, is a part of my teaching style.
Currently, I tutor for two rising 2nd graders. I have helped them increase their reading and writing skills over the summer. They are able to sound out more words and have increased their reading speed. Additionally, their handwriting has improved and their vocabulary has increased. Also, I tutor a rising 6th grader in all subjects and homework. These families have seen improvements in their children's abilities and confidence in the classroom.

I had an amazing experience with Amy and learning business law.
Amy is highly professional, e.g., very responsive via email or texts, punctual and courteous.
She has a warm and friendly disposition which is needed for a stressed out, online student like myself.
Amy is encouraging and builds your confidence through thoughtful subtlety.
Amy is very good with my daughter who is dyslexic and needed someone fun to help her catch up with her academics. She has developed a warm relationship with her. While she she makes learning fun she still pushes my daughter to be an independent learner. I highly recommend her.
Amy helped me by editing my paper. The way in which the edits were done were a little confusing, but she cleared it up for me. She seems very knowledgeable and eager to help! Thanks!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
With a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of South Florida in English and Technical Writing and a Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law, I have a vast knowledge of career development. I have helped numerous adults with drafting, editing, and revising their resumes. I am engaged and ask many questions so they are able to think about their career interests and experience. I then guide them towards a few choices that fit their career goals and/or help them develop their skills for their resume.
I have a minor in Criminology from the University of South Florida (USF). I will be teaching Survey of the Criminal Justice systems this fall at USF. With my background in advocating for domestic violence victims, I am able to bring real world experience to those who need tutoring in the area. I have experience helping with paper topics, constitutional issues, and vocabulary relevant to the field. I have a vast understanding of the criminal justice system since I am prepared to teach the class this fall.
I obtained my Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of South Florida in English and Technical Writing. Most of my experience teaching children to read is at the very beginning stages of reading. My philosophy is to read to the child, ask questions about their understanding of each paragraph, and have the child read to me. Sight words are a great technique for the beginning reader. Reading and writing must be fun and rewarding to keep the child engaged.
I started playing the flute when I was 8 years old. I played in elementary school and middle school. I have experience teaching young children the basics. I continue to play and can be a great to tutor a beginner to teach finger positions, how to use your breath and mouth, as well as to read music.
Working with children in the past, I was able to teach alliteration and rhyming. It is important to keep young children engaged with different teaching techniques. Taking classes while obtaining my English and Technical Writing Bachelor's degree, I was able to acquire skills and sources that will help teach syllables, prefixes, sounds, and meanings.
With a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of South Florida in English and Technical Writing, I have a vast knowledge of study skills that range from elementary to college classes. I have helped numerous children and adults learn how to handle exams, homework, and paper writing tasks. The most important thing is what works best for your type of learning and attentiveness. Depending on the subject and grade level, it may just take some time management skills or a reward system.
