Dear students,

I am a graduate from the Department of Physics, University of Washington, Seattle where I studied surface phenomenon at cryogenic temperatures. I have prior industrial experience in the field of materials synthesis (compound metal hydrides, and semiconductors) for various renewable energy applications. I have also earned graduate degrees in Physics from Wayne State University and in cryogenic and chemical engineering from premier academic institutions in India.

I have been engaged in teaching introductory physics labs as a graduate student. After earning my doctorate, I have been teaching introductory and upper level physics and mathematics courses in local universities, including the University of Washington. I am well versed in algebra, calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and introductory and advanced physics.

Over the next few weeks I may be offering assistance with chemical engineering, and probability and statistics as well.

Professionally, I am involved in consultancy related to engineering thermodynamics of processes, and thermodynamics of non-equilibrium processes.

I look forward to opportunities to discuss the subject matter in which you need additional help. I would appreciate it if you let me know what topic or specific problem you would like to discuss. Provide as much detail as possible. I am willing to teach in areas in Pierce County (near Tacoma, Fife) and South King County (Federal Way, Auburn).

I consider learning as a process. My role as a tutor will not be to provide you with ready answers but help you gather the technical skills required to think through a problem. I will help you understand the background theory or principle and systematically as the right questions and solve the problem. If time permits, we can also solve some rigorous problems that will stretch your thinking.

Algebra 1

At the level of high school Algebra 1 typical standard of Holt McDougal Larson Algebra 1 or Glencoe Algebra 1.

I have taught algebra based physics which uses algebraic techniques to solve problems in physics.

I will be able to answer your questions related to: real numbers, algebraic expressions simplification, linear functions, adding equations, inequalities, graphing equations, quadratic equations, and linear equations.

Algebra 2

At the level of Holt McDougal Larson Algebra 2. I have taught algebra based physics. In this course, I had taught and used techniques to solve system of equations. I can also address questions related to equations involving absolute values, solving through substitution,polynomials, and factoring polynomials, complex numbers, logarithmic and exponential functions, infinite and geometric series, permutation and combination, and inverse functions.

Calculus

Limits and functions, derivatives, integration of algebraic and trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions. Surface and volume integration. Differential equations.

I have taught this course to students pursuing technology degrees. I have also taught calculus based physics courses that employed several of the techniques mentioned.

At the level of typical calculus based introductory physics book such as Physics by Randall Knight or algebra based College Physics by Giancoli.

I have taught this course in several settings that employed extensive use of algebra and/ or calculus. I have also taught this course to arts students, where the application of physical principles in the arts world is discussed using basic mathematics.

Chemical Engineering

I have a minor (Bachelor of Science) degree in chemical engineering. For my doctoral research I had studied the statistical physics and thermodynamics of physiosorption processes. My industrial and currently my professional consultancy work involves the study of reaction kinetics and thermodynamics in physiosorbed systems and in heterogeneous reactions.
