I Love Children!!
I have been an elementary school teacher for over 30 years. I have taught Hearing Impaired children, interpreted for both children and adults, taught in numerous elementary classrooms, taught ESL to Foreign Exchange students from several countries, instructed at teacher workshops, taught Sunday School, tutored, nannied, and taught parent workshops.
Above all these wonderful experiences, I am a wife of 37 years, a mother of 5, and a Nana to 5 beautiful grandchildren. I have had the opportunity to travel to many amazing places and love learning about other cultures and countries. I am a very enthusiastic and active person who enjoys family, friends, running, reading, sports, cooking, decorating, music and culture.
I have experienced the greatest success in teaching when I am able to impart my love for learning in others. My tutoring methods include assessing a child's strengths and areas of needed growth. I believe in the power of words of encouragement and positive reinforcement. Making learning fun, while often thinking outside the box, is a teaching method that I practice. Over the years I have seen and been involved in many different teaching methods. I have found the constant and most effective element in teaching to be in an environment that is positive and builds confidence in a child. I encourage creativity and appreciate working with children who have different learning styles.
I feel privileged to have had the opportunities to invest in the lives of so many children. I continue to learn as I continue to teach. One of my favorite quotes by Albert Einstein is; "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge."
