I have tutored adults and high school students in algebra, with good results. I am available during the week from 10am - 3pm, and Saturdays. I like to use visualizations (I have created a Pythagoras puzzle from acrylic). I also bring enthusiasm to the table, because I am a hobby mathematician. I am enrolled at Western Governor's University. My hope is to teach high school mathematics some day.

Algebra 2

Rote memorization of some basic identities is a great help, but not slavish adherence to all your teacher's methods. I teach rote memorization of the three binomial formulas, and of the multiplication table, because sometimes students are pushed through the system without even this basic tool. After that, motivation of inequalities and polynomials with real-world problems is key - after all, why would you want a tool you will never use?

####
Calculus

I enjoy calculus, because it is an exploration and not a rote exercise. I like to use a historical approach from Euler, Leibniz, and Newton, leading from infinite series to integrals, and discovering the derivative as the rate of change over time, which of course is velocity (speed).

####
Geometry

I am intimately familiar with triangle geometry, and enjoy making puzzles that teach geometric proofs. I also teach compass-and-ruler construction.

####
Prealgebra

I am working on a web application called "Algebra Helper".
