DeAnn is experienced in serving children of all ages with significant reading, spelling and writing difficulties, including children with dyslexia. Trained in multisensory phonics (specifically the scientifically based Alphabet Phonics curriculum), DeAnn can assist pre-school children through adults having difficulty with letters, sounds, and reading. She offers research paper coaching for high school students and organizational success strategies for challenged youth, as well as a multi-sensory math program for elementary students struggling with addition and subtraction.
Helping struggling children learn to read and write well aligns with DeAnn’s life-long love of reading and writing. Driven by this love, DeAnn earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Illinois-Urbana and a Master’s in Humanities-Literature from the University of California-Dominquez Hills. Her compassion to teach struggling learners grew from raising two sons with dyslexia, ADHD, and dysgraphia. This first-hand experience of how multisensory instruction can turn a child’s life around is what draws her to continue to seek students and assist them on their journey towards independent reading and writing.
DeAnn is a recently retired Air Force officer who values integrity, honesty, and a job well done!
