I am a dedicated teacher who believes in the deep rewards of learning and education. As an undergraduate student, I received a double-major in political science and history, and graduated cum laude. My curiosity took my studies to Athens, Greece, where I studied Greek language and history and traveled to over 15 countries in Europe. I have since lived and worked in Japan, and confidently speak Japanese, Spanish and can write in two computer programming languages. In addition to my passion for language learning, my other hobbies include performing live music and trying to get my Rubik's Cube solve-time under 30 seconds.

As a Japanese tutor, I have a lot to offer you. I have lived and worked in Japan for five years as an English teacher and have thousands of hours of practice speaking and writing Japanese in both casual and professional settings. During my time there, I traveled to over 50 locations in Japan and made hundreds of Japanese friends. I can give detailed information about Japanese culture, food and customs. In addition, I can provide up-to-date advice about locations to travel to in Japan. With many connections to Japanese people, I have access to native Japanese speakers who I can consult with about questions related to Japanese language and culture.

I believe language learning is a performing art and that we can do best by learning the techniques to become proficient speakers. I have experience designing and leading communication-based classes, which teach the necessary skills for speaking in Japanese.

I have seven years teaching experience. I have taught over a thousand classes with Japanese students, and working one-on-one with people ranging from students in elementary school to doctors and other working professionals.

As a student of Japanese myself, I know what works and what doesn't when it comes to studying. I can also recommend countless study materials, such as the best textbooks to use, to the best Japanese comics, movies and TV shows to learn from.

Let's work together to improve your Japanese speaking and writing ability.
