My name is Dillinger J. and I am currently a junior in the industrial engineering field. My ambition in life is to become an entrepreneur so I may help empower the human imagination. Academically speaking, I am a student of science
; however, I have experience being a student leader, and an artist which has given me the diverse skills necessary to communicate with whoever I may need to.
Although I am only 20 years old, I have a tremendous amount of work experience that will benefit any students who utilize me as a tutor. My first job at 16 was at the Boys and Girls Club at BF Day Elementary (in Fremont) where I worked for three years. During my time there, I regularly led groups of children ages 5 - 12 through activities and helped them with their homework. In addition to the training workshops I attended, my ability to communicate and sympathize with elementary school students is exemplary.
The reason I left that position was to seize other opportunities at Shoreline Community College. I became a student Parliament member in the Winter of 2013 and have since served the student body as the Minister of Treasury. This position has allowed me to network with countless people, refine my communication skills further, and gain skills that will help me succeed as a professional. Furthermore, I founded and have been president of the Engineering and Technology Society which exemplifies my leadership skills (not just with elementary ages). In totality, this culmination of experience demonstrates that I will excel
as a tutor for the subjects in which I am competent.
My tutoring methods consist of first assessing the goals of the student, and then assessing their current status. Although it is subject dependent, I tend to be a very inquisitive tutor who forces the student to think critically - not just about the material, but how they also formulate questions. Since my focus is on developing the student's ability to think critically, I will not only help them with their subject, but hopefully their overall outlook on school. As I did not focus on my studies during my primary education, I can also relay the importance of why students should focus on school while they are young, so that they are well equipped for college.
My general hobbies consist of making functional pottery, photography
, hiking, basketball
, and playing StarCraft II. I am based in the Greenwood neighborhood and commute by bus. I want the student and parents to be as comfortable, and trusting of me as possible, and will demonstrate my aptitude upon request. Please feel free to ask me any questions about my history
, hobbies, and skills.
Thank you for your consideration.
