If your child is struggling in science, the last thing that they would look forward to is additional lessons after school. I can help by making learning fun and interesting.

I am an energetic and experience chemistry/biology teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience. I have worked with middle school, high school and college level students in New York City. I can help identify weak areas and not only help with content, but provide your student with tools that will make them a better student across all classes. I have many resources available and will even conduct laboratory exercises when necessary and/or appropriate. I also have experience with ACT prep and have resource available.

Currently, I'm working with an amazing group of talented young adults in the Seattle Public school system and am looking to take on new private students. I am available during the summer and on the weekends. I have a car and would be happy to meet your student at a place of your choosing. I look forward to hearing from you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

In my 7 years as a science educator, I have worked closely with several students faced with the challenge of managing school work while dealing with ADHD. Over the years, I have developed several strategies for my students that have assisted them in being successful in their studies. The greatest strength I can bring while working with ADHD students in my understanding and patience.

Additionally, I hold a Master's Degree in Psychology and have a deep understanding of the disorder and the challenges those who suffer from it face in their daily lives. Each student is unique and will need a different set of modifications. In working with ADD/ADHD students, I would involve the parents in developing a course of study that would best suit their student.

Autism

I currently work in a school that has an autism inclusion program. During the course of the year, I have worked closely with 3 autistic students in my 11th grade chemistry class as well as my 9/10 integrated science class. I have worked closely with out special education department in developing behavioral and curriculum modifications for those students. Additionally, I worked with autistic students and their instructional assistance while working in New York City Public Schools. Because of my experiences, I appreciate that in regards to autism, every student needs a unique approach. I would work closely with parents to develop a course of study that would suit the needs of their student.
