Hello! My name is Kelly and I am an experienced tutor located here in North Seattle. I'm a graduate of the University of Washington Seattle campus with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology and Psychology. I am currently applying to medical school and I enjoy teaching in my free time. I am applying for medical school because I feel that it is a great way to integrate my passion for teaching as well as my passion for science and social justice. In the mean time - I am excited to be able to work with so many fantastic students!
I have been tutoring and teaching both professionally and through non-profit organizations for many years now in Seattle, Hawaii and Chicago. I have worked with students K-12 in the Seattle Public Schools, Chicago Public Schools, and Seattle area independent schools. I have also worked with students at the University level. I believe in the importance of differentiated learning or tailoring lessons for each particular student so that it successfully meets the needs of every unique student, allowing them the opportunity to reach their full potential in terms of understanding and applying the material at hand.
I have taken graduate level Education courses at the University of Washington which have greatly honed my instruction as we participated in courses on lesson planning, classroom management, instructional methods, special education, differentiation, culture and diversity. These are skills and lessons that I apply to every lesson when I work with students.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want more information - I look forward to hearing from you!
