Having been an expatriate for two years, I deeply empathize with the struggles that come with moving to a foreign country and learning a new language. I spent two years as a Fulbright scholar in South Korea engaging in many aspects of English language education: mentoring small classes of Korean high school students with university ambitions, specifically in TOEFL writing and speaking; large classes of Korean Army Aviation School pilots in conversational English; and even groups of North Korean refugees in basic English lessons.

My teaching style helps the student to help themselves. Together with the student, I identify what the underlying difficulty is, and then work with the student to represent the material in a different, clearer way. Then we practice identifying and applying the difficult material in other situations.

-------------
I graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in biochemistry.
I have experience with middle and high school science students on topics such as genetics, inorganic chemistry, and cellular biology. I, myself, did not find my passion for science until the end of my high school career, so I understand why many young students are afraid of the hard sciences! I enjoy changing young students' perceptions about how "difficult" the hard sciences are, and find it especially rewarding to spark their interest in science!
