I have previous experience with tutoring in settings that are one-on-one to groups of 10 or less. My method is to ensure that the student(s) comprehend the material beyond the scope of 'passing the test'. To facilitate this, I ask students (at an appropriate level) to critically evaluate their reasoning and find ways to bring in outside material.
I have an advanced degree from the California Institute of Technology, and I am confident in my ability to share and inspire chemistry at the high school and college level.
My previous educational work has been both in the laboratory and the classroom setting. I often find that the students I work with not only enjoy my ability to covey information, but also my enthusiasm for the subjects. I have had many people tell me that they appreciate seeing someone so interested in their field when they present information or material that is relevant. I expect students to come in ready to learn and with an open mind. I am dedicated to making sure students are engaged in the material by drawing connections to various topics to help with comprehension. Once a basic understanding of material is grasped we can then work to understand the fundamentals of why and how it all comes together.
