I provide quality tutoring in biology and science with carefully planned instruction. I will apply relevant pedagogical tools to achieve the learning objectives of individual learners with inquiry-based approaches. I have long years of teaching science, biology and the environment. For the last four years, I was a teaching assistant. I assisted professors in instruction and management, planned and taught laboratory and discussion sections and oversaw independent student projects. I graded written essays, mid-terms and exams. I worked with students to address their individual questions and concerns, and facilitated exam preparation. As a lecturer, I advised students, developed course syllabus for courses, taught various biology courses and evaluated student performances, led laboratory and lecture classes. I fully engage my students in class room discussions and group work. I prefer inquiry-based teaching using leading questions and consider the interest of learners. As a high school teacher I taught biology for grades 9-12 and chemistry for grade 10.
I aspire to teach my students to be responsible, curios,and all-rounded. I strive to teach skills and experiences that last long in addition to preparing the student to achieve high in exams. I encourage critical thinking using scientific inquiry methods. My biology teaching approaches tend to be more systematic using unifying frameworks in evolutionary biology and across all hierarchies of the biological organization (from molecules to ecosystems) mostly by using inductive teaching methods. I also believe that teaching is a learning opportunity and am committed to embrace diversity of students by incorporating diverse strategies and examples for in my courses.
My tutoring approach is to enable students develop their own analytical and reasoning skills, knowledge and communication through effective listening of students interests, arguments and questions and strategic guidance to the course material.
