In my experience, having the right instruction can make all the difference in learning and loving a subject. Case in point: because of my high school chemistry teacher's teaching methods I was able to earn top scores on the AP Chemistry exam, which translated into college credits. I want to help you do the same!
I graduated from the University of Nevada Reno (UNR) in 2006 with a B.S. in Biochemistry (minor: biophysical organic chemistry). Organic chemistry was definitely my favorite subject! I have experience tutoring inorganic and organic chemistry at UNR and at Truckee Meadows Community College. I received A's in nearly all of my undergraduate science-related courses, graduating with GPA 3.75 in 4 years.
I recently received my Ph.D. in Viral Immunology from Oregon Health and Science University, and currently work at Seattle Children's Research Institute. Every day I am lucky enough to immerse myself in numerous science topics and couldn't dream of a better job. I have always loved teaching and am excited to help students understand their classroom material. I have a hands-on approach and will work with the learning style of the student. I usually lean toward the Socratic Method - asking the student questions, enforcing critical thinking, and leading them through their own thought process.
I look forward to sharing my love of science with you!
I received my BS from the University of Nevada Reno with a major in biochemistry and a minor in biophysical organic chemistry. While I do not have previous experience tutoring biochemistry, I received top scores in all of my college-level biochemistry courses required for my degree. Additionally, I was re-introduced to biochemistry as part of my graduate school curriculum.
I received my BS from the University of Nevada Reno with a major in biochemistry and a minor in biophysical organic chemistry. Although I have only taken one biology course (as a prerequisite for my BS degree) and have no experience teaching the topics to others, my training has provided me with the proficiency in this topic. My Ph.D. is in Viral Immunology, which requires the understanding and mastering of biological systems. My current position as a post-doctoral fellow requires that I remain up-to-date with biology as it pertains to immunology and cancer.
I received my BS from the University of Nevada Reno with a major in biochemistry and a minor in biophysical organic chemistry. I have previously tutored inorganic chemistry for both science and non-science majors at the college level both at the University of Nevada Reno and Truckee Meadow Community College.
I received my BS from the University of Nevada Reno with a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Biophysical Organic Chemistry. I received top marks in my microbiology course that was taken as a prerequisite for my graduate school application. Following the completion of my class, I was asked to assist the laboratory teaching assistant with daily modules for the students. My current position as a post-doctoral fellow requires that I remain proficient in such topics.

I played softball from 5th until 10th grade, when I was sidelined by an injury. During active seasons I played 1st base and left and center field. During my junior year in high school, I remained active in the sport by serving as my team's assistant manager.
