In my experience, having the right instruction can make all the difference in learning and loving a subject. Case in point: because of my high school chemistry teacher's teaching methods I was able to earn top scores on the AP Chemistry exam, which translated into college credits. I want to help you do the same!
I graduated from the University of Nevada Reno (UNR) in 2006 with a B.S. in Biochemistry (minor: biophysical organic chemistry). Organic chemistry was definitely my favorite subject! I have experience tutoring inorganic and organic chemistry at UNR and at Truckee Meadows Community College. I received A's in nearly all of my undergraduate science-related courses, graduating with GPA 3.75 in 4 years.
I recently received my Ph.D. in Viral Immunology from Oregon Health and Science University, and currently work at Seattle Children's Research Institute. Every day I am lucky enough to immerse myself in numerous science topics and couldn't dream of a better job. I have always loved teaching and am excited to help students understand their classroom material. I have a hands-on approach and will work with the learning style of the student. I usually lean toward the Socratic Method - asking the student questions, enforcing critical thinking, and leading them through their own thought process.
I look forward to sharing my love of science with you!
