I am an elementary school teacher with 18 years of special education experience and have 12 years working with elementary age students. The grade levels I have taught are first, second and third. My experience with special education students ranged from six to eighteen year olds and four of those years were spent teaching in a residential treatment center in Cleveland, Ohio.
I had a unique opportunity to complete my student teaching in Nogales, Arizona. I wanted to challenge myself in a completely new environment where I did not know anyone. My experience included teaching pre-school,first grade, special education students ,K-5, and ESL to the Spanish speaking adults. It was one of the most memorable, wonderful adventures I have ever encountered. Learning about the culture, religion, people, traditions and family ties was an enriching opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and live a new life. The music, language, customs and desert life
added to the fantastic educational experience. Did I mention the food? I had the privillage of eating home made tortillas and home made meals, which certainly did not help the waist line.
I love interacting and teaching students of all ages. I believe teachers who love teaching, teach children and adults to love learning. The best part, is the amount of laughter and fun you share together.
