Chinese

I am a native Mandarin speaker and spent my childhood in Taiwan. There, I learned Chinese in school. I am a fluent speaker and can read and write at a high level. I also have extensive experience translating and tutoring Chinese in various clinical and peer education settings.

College Counseling

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University, and was also accepted to Northwestern University and the University of Southern California when I applied to college as a high school senior four years ago. I am very knowledgeable about the college application process and can advise students on topics including the Common Application, the UC System Application, FAFSA/CSS, scholarships, and private school supplemental essays. With this knowledge, I have mentored more than 10 students and helped guide them through the competitive college application process. In addition, I am a big believer in finding the right schools for each student, and putting together a customized list of schools based on every student's grades, test scores, activities, and interests. I also provide support in brainstorming and editing essays, writing compelling activity descriptions, and seeking out enrichment activities or experiences.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
