I am an experienced, patient, non-judgmental and empathetic tutor, teacher, editor, and writer. I am available for help with all types of writing, understanding and completing class assignments, academic writing (I received an award for my own thesis), and personal statements for college applications. I can also help with your test preparations (I was a National Merit Finalist on the SAT and achieved exceptionally high scores on the GRE).
I love working one-on-one with students, focusing on the particular needs of the each person. I try hard to help people find their own voice in saying what is important to them, while also conforming to proper form and the requirements of each assignment. I try to make sure that class material is understood, and that any changes I recommend to written work are thoroughly explained.
I particularly enjoy working with people from other cultures. I am currently tutoring in a community college writing and learning lab, working primarily with ESL students (where so many students were requesting me that it became a problem). I am happy to help with learning all the peculiarities of the English language.
My background is in English literature (BA), painting (BFA-summa cum laude), art history (MA-award for top graduate student), art criticism and creative writing. I have worked as an artist and illustrator, art critic, curator, editor and director of an arts journal, and adjunct college professor in art history.
Let me know how I can help you, and I will do my best to do so.
