To me biology is fascinating. It’s what I think about at work and what I read about in my down time. As a researcher studying the nature of cancer at a research institute, I can attest to the importance of a solid foundation in biology! I have a strong track record in the field. As a sophomore in high school I scored top marks on the AP Biology exam. In 2012 I graduated from Caltech with a BS in Biology. My experience in biology spans wet lab, clinical research, and bioinformatics. In college I took courses over a broad range of subfields, including genetics/genomics, evolution, neuroscience, and animal behavior. Since graduating in 2012, I’ve dived into immunology and cancer.
I enjoy teaching biology because it's tangible and lends itself to demos - the fun part of learning! What I'm hoping for in a tutoring session is to first identify the issues of concern, break those down into bite-sized portions, and take them on one at a time. Studying, to me, is about getting past points of confusion and frustration in order to arrive in a place where a student can see the beauty of the science behind the homework assignment or textbook chapter. Whether it's high school or college level biology - I'm here to help! I’d love to partner with you to help you to feel prepared in your classes.
