I’m a college academic specializing in Language Arts (reading, writing and comprehension), History, Social Studies, Digital Humanities and the development of successful study skills. I have over 6 years’ experience with elementary through college level students.
My in-school tutoring has included one-to-one and group help for elementary through high school students including support for non-native English speakers. I currently tutor at a local K-8, specializing in middle school homework and organization skills, reading, writing and social studies. I also teach a regular after-school enrichment class at a local elementary school in craft, sewing and felting.
I encourage my students to develop good study habits as a firm foundation for academic success. I am sensitive to individual styles of learning and strive to tailor each session to best suit each student's needs. Regular homework is designed to reinforce what we have learned while practicing the essential academic skills of organization and time management.
Outside of my tutoring work, I am an avid runner, knitter, reader and writer. My passion has always been Ancient Egypt (I have a BA in Ancient History and Archaeology from the University of Birmingham, UK graduating at the top of my class, and a Ph.D in Ancient Egyptian Art History). I'm currently working with a group of college undergraduates training them to transcribe and digitize a nineteenth century travel journal.
I tutor in Seattle's U District and am available one evening a week in Lake Forest Park.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy but offer make-up classes. I look forward to working with you!
