Hello,

I am a native Japanese speaker. I came from Japan to US 9 years ago. Currently, I teach or tutor Japanese 7 days a week. I work for a preschool and 3 language schools around Seattle. I have been teaching/tutoring Japanese to children and adults for about 4 years. When I teach Japanese to young children, I try to speak to them mostly in Japanese with gestures and repeat the same words and expressions many times. For older children and adults, I use some English when they have difficulty in understanding or when I explain grammatical rules etc., but still I try to speak in Japanese as much as possible. I like teaching and tutoring my native language so much that I am planning to take Japanese language teaching competency test next year to be more confident being Japanese teacher/tutor.

I am able to teach Russian language, too. Before I came to US, I taught Russian at universities in Japan for 3 years. I am good at teaching Russian to beginners, since I learned Russian as a foreign language, and I can explain grammatical rules in a systematic way. My major in Kyoto University Graduate School, from which I received a Ph.D in 2005, was Russian language study. My Russian speaking skill is as good as reading and writing skill, since I studied in Russia for one year when I was a student and I keep practicing speaking Russian since then. Actually, I speak Russian every day at home as well as Japanese.

Thank you,

Yuko

Japanese

I am a native Japanese speaker. I came from Japan to the U.S. 8 years ago. Currently, I teach and tutor Japanese almost everyday. I work for a preschool in Seattle and 2 language schools in Bellevue. I have been interested in languages and my major was linguistics. Although I have good knowledge of Japanese language, I keep studying to be confident with being Japanese teacher/tutor.

Russian

My occupation back in Japan was Russian language teacher at Universities. I started learning Russian at Kyoto Sangyo University when I was 18 years old. After graduation, I entered Kyoto University Graduate School to study Russian language and linguistics more. In 2005, I received a Ph.D degree. Although I am not a native speaker, I speak Russian well, since I studied Russian at a language school and a university in Moscow for about a year and I still use Russian at home every day.

Great Japanese Tutor! — Yuko has been a great tutor. When my son needed to skip a year of Japanese in high school (because of the way his schedule came together he could only fit in the advanced class), we decided to get a tutor to assist him through the year. It was a huge success - he had no problem getting through the year and got an A in the class! Yuko was particularly helpful in advancing his verbal/conversational ...
