I have a strong understanding of science and math, and I love to share interesting ideas. I teach with patience and thoughtful communication.

I studied computer science in college, with additional coursework in biology, physics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology. After graduation I worked as a technical writer and programmer for several years. I enjoy writing, editing, and illustrating, and I have a strong general understanding of computers, how they work, and how to make them work.

In addition to my educational background, I've traveled extensively in India and southeast Asia, I've taught acrobatics and yoga, and I love to draw and paint.

As a teacher, I proceed systematically, first identifying those concepts that aren't yet understood, and then working with patience and diligence, from the ground up, until the student really understands the important concepts and techniques. I don't waste time. I focus on the task at hand because I love to see it when understanding begins.

Algebra 1

I've been using algebra in my life and my studies for many years. I love teaching algebra in particular because a solid foundation in this subject is useful throughout life.

Biology

I've completed coursework in college-level biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology with a 4.0 gpa. I love the subject because it's a fascinating story about a beautiful and complex system.

Chemistry

I've completed 3 quarters of college level chemistry with a 4.0 GPA. I teach by breaking problems down into simple steps and keeping careful track of all quantities as we work.

Grammar

Working as a technical writer in the software industry, I wrote, edited, illustrated, and published professional documentation.

I have a deep understanding of English grammar and usage, and a keen eye for readability.

General Computer

I earned my BA from UC Berkeley in Computer Science and I've worked in the computer industry for 8 years. I've used computers for my professional, academic, and personal life. I know how they work inside out.

Geometry

I've used basic geometry in subjects ranging from calculus to graphical programming to physics. It's a beautiful and important foundational subject for so many interesting topics, and deserves a solid understanding.

Physics

I received a 5 on the physics AP test, and later a 4.0 on general college-level physics. I find physics super fun and satisfying, and I'm always eager to tackle problems.

HTML

I hold a BA in Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Working as a web programmer in the software industry, I developed a deep understanding of HTML and javascript.

Anatomy

I've completed college level anatomy and physiology with a 4.0 gpa. It's a fascinating description of a complex and bewildering system.

Yoga

I've practice Ashtanga and related styles of yoga for over 12 years, with many teachers in America, Thailand, and India. I've taught groups and privates for over 5 years. I enjoy leading a vigorous practice with inversions and strength building, as well as a passive practice with focus on building flexibility, stillness, and meditation.

Computer Programming

I earned my BA in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, and worked for several years in the software industry as a programmer and technical writer. I understand how computers work from the CPU to the end user.
