I can help!

With an innovative approach to your literacy needs, my tutoring sessions are fun, supportive and rigorous. I know how to make learning stick with an approach that is grounded in the developmental psychology of play and learning, for all ages.

I can help with language arts but also in a more global way as my background is in developing thinking and communication skills as well as creative arts based approaches to gaining academic competence and confidence.

As a published writer, with a Master's in English, Creative Writing, and over 10 years' experience teaching all ages, I provide individual or small group instruction.

I specialize in reading, writing, speaking and the interpretive skills necessary to respond to works of literature.

I can help with you or your struggling reader find their curiosity, confidence and persistence in decoding and comprehending texts. Together we will delve into developmentally appropriate books, stories, poems, essays (texts of all kinds). Through a rigorous yet supportive process of reflection, practice, and play, I can guide you or your child toward mastery.

I can help you with writing projects or with writing in general. Many people struggle with the writing process. My approach is to start at the beginning, with playful pre-writing strategies to activate your authentic intelligence toward to subject. Then, we translate that to the page. You will learn to take risks and find your freshest voice. Good writing is not born in drudgery. There is a better way.

I love to assist people with writing projects large and small. I am there to guide you, to ask the right questions, paraphrase your developing thoughts, help you hone your unique perspective and then translate it to the page. I look forward to helping you or your child every step along the way.

I can also work with you or your child if increasing English fluency is your goal. By providing authentic opportunities to reach for meaning as you practice engaging in the language, you or your child will gain the satisfaction of mastery.
