Hello,
My name is Annabelle. I obtained a Doctorate in Organic Chemistry in 2008 from the University of Nantes, France. Then, I moved to US to work at Georgia Tech as a Research Scientist from January 2009 to May 2011. I have worked for Gigoptix as a Senior Chemist since May 2011.
I have important tutoring experience. I tutored Maths, Chemistry, and Physics to individuals from high school to undergraduate level for more than 500 hours. Also, I tutored Organic Chemistry to groups of undergraduate students at the University of Nantes, France for 30 hours.
I think that one of the most efficient methods for tutoring is to go through each lesson and write down the key points so the student has a simplified and clearer view of the subject before starting exercises. I use a lot of drawing, schemes, and metaphors to explain concepts. The next step is to go through exercises by increasing the difficulty gradually. An important point for exercises is to read the problem or the question from the beginning to the end and make sure that he/she takes the time to understand it. Finally, I practice more exercises with him/her. My goal is for my student to feel confident and relax when it is time for the test.
Many of my students told me that they were very happy to have me as their tutor because of the way I simplify and make it easy for them to learn.
