All of MINH’s current tutoring subjects are listed at the left. You can read more about MINH’s qualifications in specific subjects below.

Algebra 1

I am good at building strong foundation in working either with Math formulas or graphing functions. I can quickly realize a student's strength and weakness to provide appropriate methods of approaching the problems. To me, it's more important for the students to understand the method of dealing with the problem than just get the answer. I prefer showing different methods for the same problem but I will often the method best fit the student's ability first. I also have some tricks to help the students remember concepts and formulas when applicable.

Algebra 2

I am good at building a strong foundation in working either with Math formulas or graphing functions. Most of the time, students get confused because they were not taught the method bet fit for them or haven't gotten enough practice to get used to it. I prefer showing different methods for the same problem but I will often the method best fit the student's ability first.

ASVAB

I am good at arithmetic reasoning and can show students how to deal with problem purely with logic. I took ASVAB myself and was qualified for all MOs. I can show you tricks to guess the answer right or directly solve for the answer (I prefer the later better).

Calculus

My IQ type is geometric mathematician. As a result, I can conduct a tutoring session of Calculus in a more graphical way, which is very useful in understanding Calculus concept.

Chemistry

I am good at building strong foundation and correlation of concepts in Chemistry. Chemistry is quite unique in a sense that it builds up on to itself quite more tightly other sciences. As a result, it's essential to understand chemistry in an integrated way rather fragmented ones. I have a very broad yet deep understanding of chemistry concept that I can show student how to look at problems in different ways and understand them in many levels with correlation to other knowledge(depending on the need and ability of student as well the level of the course)

Geometry

I am good at building a strong foundation in working either with Math formulas or drawing shapes and angles. Drawing neatly is essential in seeing correct geometry and relating the problem to rules and concepts. I also have some tricks to help the students remember concepts and formulas when applicable.

Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry. Mostly involving mechanism and MO diagram construction when applicable. I'm pretty good at explaining mechanisms and I often use Physical Chemistry (Quantum Mechanics and Thermodynamics parts) to explain formation of major product via most thermodynamically favorable pathway(s) and/or formation of kinetics products by steric control/design.
I have tutoring chemistry and math for more than 7 years and TA 1 year for O-CHEM lab. I have A is all of my O-CHEM lecture and lab courses. I am currently work at Seattle Central Community College and Bellevue College as a Chemistry and Math tutor. I also received certification of acknowledgement for my academic excellence from the American Chemical Society Puget Sound Section in 2006. I'm pretty much the only tutor who can give good explanation for O-CHEM at Seattle Central Community College. I know that because my students told me so and it also shows up in my evaluation sheets from students.

Physics

All Physics knowledge are direct result from mathematical expressions. As a result, it's essential to understand Physics in an integrated form with Math. I have a very broad yet deep understanding of Math and Physics concept that I can show student how to look at problems and understand them in different ways.

Precalculus

I am good at building strong foundation in working either with Math formulas or graphing functions. I would use terms and explain concepts in a way that they would relate to Calculus so that the students who need to take Calculus later would experience great benefits from it. I have some tricks to help the students remember concepts and formulas when applicable.

SAT Math

I am good at building strong foundation in arithmetic skills and explaining methods of approaching the problems. For SAT it's more important to focus on the method. I also have some tricks to help the students remember concepts and formulas when applicable.

Trigonometry

I am good at building strong foundation in working either with Math formulas or graphing functions. I pay attention to explaining unique properties of trig functions so that students can fully understand properties of trig functions in a way that they will preform well in trig class and take it on to trig application in calculus.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
